Beach description
The beach occupies the majority of the north coast of the island, and it got its name from the unique "puka" shells. Locals create amazing compositions out of these shells and sand. The wide and long beach is covered in clean white sand, the sea here is clean and quite deep for comfortable swimming. But the waves are a much more frequent occasion than on the west coast.
The infrastructure on Puka Shell is poorly developed. There are no hotels near the beach and a small amount of cafes. You can purchase various shells and other souvenirs at the central gate and on the beach itself. You can get to the beach via the central road of the island, through the local Yapak village. Local public transport also drives here, and a ticket costs only 20 pesos.
