Ao Kao beach
Surrounded by villas, boutique hotels and restaurants, Ao Kao Beach is a popular tourist destination on the southwest coast of Ko Mak Island. It seems to gather the main Thai treasures: gracefully curved crescent-shaped 2 km coastline, piles of soft sand, shady trees and clean sapphire water.

Beach description
Bathing and swimming on this beach is an unspeakable pleasure. The eastern part of it is particularly suitable for water sports. It's not advisable to swim on the beach only at low tide, when the remains of dead corals or sea urchins appear on the shallow bottom of the sea.
Holidays at Ao Kao promise a wide range of entertainment including:
- snorkeling,
- kayaking,
- cycling,
- volleyball,
- trekking.
Tourists have an opportunity to rent a bike to explore the island on their own.
Massage tents, showers, toilets, beach accessories and swings provide comfort to the guests of numerous resorts. Travelers who aren't staying in hotels can rent deck chairs and umbrellas. Coastal snack bars, fish restaurants, cafes with a rich assortment of ice cream and drinks, pastry shops are open from morning to evening.
Everyday locals supply fresh tropical fruits to beach mini-markets: bananas, mangos, coconuts. Nearby there are several shops offering clothes, souvenirs and jewelry. Live music, beach parties and fire shows will not let the lovers of night adventures get bored.
When is it better to go
The period from November to March is considered the high season in Thailand. Comfortable air temperature, as well as minimal rainfall create optimal conditions for a beach holiday.
