Ao Tanote beach

The 200 m long Ao Tanote Beach is a cozy marina for lovers of peace and relaxation. High hills surrounded by a necklace of boulders form a significant part of the local landscape.

Beach description

Because of the rocky surface of the bottom, you should swim on the beach carefully in order not to get hurt. The sand on Ao Tanote is a bit coarse, containing a lot of granite. But this deficiency is fully compensated by the crystal clarity of the water, calm in August and turbulent in winter.

High tide hours are the best time for swimming on Ao Tanote. Fans of snorkeling will be pleased with the fishes hiding in the corals. As for diving, it's better to dive near the rocks in the central and left sections of the bay. Explorers who will head towards the pristine Laem Thian bay are likely to encounter large barracudas and non-aggressive reef sharks. Kayaking is as popular here, and the necessary transport for it can be found in one of the beach bungalows.

There are 6 bungalows on the beach. There is a high demand for these cozy houses – you should take care of booking them in advance. You can get to Ao Tanote by road from the pier in Mae Haad.

When is it better to go

The period from November to March is considered the high season in Thailand. Comfortable air temperature, as well as minimal rainfall create optimal conditions for a beach holiday.
