South Palm Caye is one of the most beautiful tropical coasts of Belize. It is located on the island of the same name in the conservation area, next to the barrier reef, 14 miles from Dangriti. You can get to South Water Caye only by using the services of a water taxi or a private boat.

Beach description

The island of South Water Caye is panoramic scenery of white-sand beaches and a clear, aquamarine sea, offering excellent diving and snorkeling opportunities. The nearby barrier reef serves as a natural breakwater that protects the island's shore from large waves, and the trade winds blowing in the area pleasantly cool down, creating a comfortable micro-climate. While having a holiday on the island, tourists can swim, sunbathe, and dive deep into the coastal zone, allowing them to learn about the diversity of the underwater world in this part of the Caribbean Sea. After enjoying the water, you can also find interesting activities on land by visiting the reserve to watch the life of sea turtles.

The beach infrastructure on South Water Caye is represented by 2 hotels, where you can find everything you need for quality rest and snorkeling. The only inconvenience its visitors may encounter is the sandflies.

When is the best time to go?

The dry period in Belize lasts from February to April, the rest of the time there is the rainy season (the heaviest rainfalls occur in August), and in the north it is much drier than in the south. If you are not afraid of the raging elements, then the best time to travel is – from December to May, when the rains are already insignificant, and the temperature is kept at 29-30 degrees.
