Beach description
A small fishing village surrounded by reserved nature is adjoining the white sandy beach. A lot of tourists come here from the nearby island of Roatan or the coastal Honduran city of La Ceiba.
You can get to Cayo Chachahuate from RTB or LCE airports. The best way to do that is to take the boat. The guests of the beach can rent a modest fishing house or rent a room in one of the two hotels located on the other islands of the Cayos Cochinos Archipelago. However, it is necessary to keep in mind that it's extremely difficult to book accommodation in Cayo Chachahuate in advance.
The seashore waters of the beach are perfect for snorkeling, diving, boat trips. The Cayos Cochinos Islands are home to wild dolphins and the reefs in the region are not yet fully explored. In the village of Cayo Chachaguat you can treat yourself to local cuisine – grilled fish, lobster, bananas and Cayos Cochinos-style rice.
When is it better to go
Honduras has the warmest period in summer, especially in the lowlands of the Caribbean and the Pacific coast. The temperature range in the dry season is 28-32 °C. A slight cooling – for about 3 °C – is observed with the onset of the rainy season (May-November). The heat is suitable for diving, and the wet season is for admiring the lush green vegetation.
