Beach description
The beach is sandy and quite long, which allowed us to visually divide it into conventional zones, each of which corresponds to a specific topic (sports, a children's town, family vacations, water attractions, dances and music). For lovers of a quiet measured rest, comfortable sun loungers and beach beds are provided, as well as spacious arbors characteristic of the entire Flemish coast, where you can hide from the strong wind. Along the entire beach there are bicycle and jogging paths, there is a go-kart center, a velodrome and a water park.
The visiting card of the beach is a 350-meter art-deco pier, built in the thirties of the last century. At its edge there is a round building, which previously held various cultural events, and now there is a luxurious restaurant. It is worth noting that all Blankenberg restaurants are famous for their excellent cuisine, especially seafood dishes.
Also, the pride of the resort and its original feature are the colorful flower parade, held on the last Sunday of August, the spectacular May Carnival and the annual festival of sand sculptures, which attract artists from all over Europe.
When is the best time to go?
The swimming season on the west coast of Belgium usually lasts from June to September, when seawater warms up to 19 degrees, and the air temperature goes up to 23-25. But even at the height of the season, strong winds blow on the coast, that are worth taken into account when planning a vacation with very small children.
