Ostend beach
Located on the west coast of Belgium in the vicinity of the city of the same name and is one of the best beaches in the country. A trip to Ostend from Brussels by car, bus or train will take no more than an hour, you can also use the services of the Seaside tram, which runs along the coast from De Panne to Knokke-Heist.

Beach description
The beach is a kilometres-long shoreline covered with golden sand and surrounded by multi-storey blocks. It is separated from the urban area by a magnificent spacious boulevard, along which numerous hotels, shops and restaurants are located.
The beach has toilets, showers, locker rooms and special gazebos to protect against strong winds. Lifeguards vigilantly watch over safety, they timely warn of sharp changes in weather and currents with special flags.
In the high season, Ostend is quite lively and crowded, but thanks to the huge size of the beach, there is plenty of room for everyone. Here you can ride water attractions, play cricket and volleyball, fly a kite or fly with a parachute. There are entertainment camps and a unique sand sculpture park called Disney Sand Magic for children.
There are also music festivals and theatrical performances on the beach, accompanied by spectacular pyrotechnic and laser shows. One of such large-scale events is planned for July 12-14, 2019 – during these days Ostend beach will celebrate its tenth anniversary in a big way.
When is the best time to go?
The swimming season on the west coast of Belgium usually lasts from June to September, when seawater warms up to 19 degrees, and the air temperature goes up to 23-25. But even at the height of the season, strong winds blow on the coast, that are worth taken into account when planning a vacation with very small children.
