Uvala Dubovica beach

The name Villa Benedeta Dubovica is often heard in tourist programs. It's named after a mini-hotel located nearby. The beach is located in the southwest of Hvar Island in a small fjord, looking more like an artificial bay.

Beach description

You can get there primarily by automobile transport by the winding roads of Hvar Island. There are regular ferries running to Stari Grad in the north or to Hvar in the far southwest. These cities also have a large number of hotels and restaurants.

The beach itself is gray and yellow. It contains large amounts of fine and medium pebbles mixed and alternating with sand. From afar it may seem blindingly white against the background of coastal hills, but can not be considered a “velvety” one with soft sand.

The water in the bay is clean and the depth increases slowly and can reach 3-5 meters, especially between the stone underwater caves at the exit from the bay. The bottom near the shore is also pebbly and sandy with a higher concentration of pebbles.

When is the best time to go?

Although the summer in Croatia is hot (the temperature can rise up to 30 degrees), but thanks to the sea breezes it is very pleasant - the best time for a beach holiday. If you want to see the sights of this country rich in historical events, it is better to choose tours in spring or autumn: firstly, the weather is comfortable, and secondly, there are not so many tourists in these times of the year, which positively affects prices.
