Sant'Erasmo beach

Sant'Erasmo, a quaint and verdant island nestled near Venice, promises an idyllic coastal retreat. Bask in the sun and savor the tranquility of the sea, all while escaping the frenetic pace of crowded urban beaches.

Beach description

There are several "wild" beaches on the island. Some of them are covered with sand, while others feature pebbles. On the island, it is easy to find a place on the shore, sheltered by natural shade.

Sant'Erasmo is located almost at the entrance to the Venetian lagoon, as opposed to the beaches of Lido di Venezia and Pellestrina, which face the Adriatic Sea. It is beautiful and picturesque; however, for swimming, it is advisable to choose the beaches of neighboring islands.

The beaches on Sant'Erasmo are wild, and in the lagoon, there is always a very lively stream of a variety of ships; thus, there are practically no conditions suitable for swimming. There is a café on the coast where you can rent a boat or a small vessel. On the island, you can find a plethora of options for renting accommodations, such as apartments. While there are hotels, the selection is limited.

When is it better to go

  • The Italian Adriatic coast, with its beautiful beaches and charming coastal towns, is a popular destination for beach vacations. To make the most of your trip, timing is essential. Here's when you should consider visiting:

    • Peak Season (July-August): The warmest and busiest months are July and August. This is when the water temperatures are ideal for swimming, and the coastal towns are buzzing with activities. However, be prepared for crowded beaches and higher prices.
    • Shoulder Season (May-June, September): For a more tranquil experience, the months of May, June, and September are perfect. The weather is still warm enough for beach activities, but the crowds are thinner, and accommodation can be more affordable.
    • Off-Season (October-April): While off-season travel offers the lowest prices and deserted beaches, many facilities are closed, and the weather can be too cool for traditional beach activities. However, it's a great time for those interested in other aspects of the region, such as its cuisine and culture.

In conclusion, the best time for a beach vacation on the Italian Adriatic coast is during the shoulder season, when you can enjoy the beautiful weather without the peak season's crowds.
