Moinhos beach
Moinhos - one of the popular beaches of the island of San Miguel, the best on the northern part of its coast. Located near the small village of Porto Formozo.

Beach description
The beach is located in a bay, deeply protruding into the rocky coast, so vacationers at Moinhos are reliably protected from wind and waves. The beach is very wide, but not too long. It is covered with dark volcanic sand, large stones come across in some places on the shore and in the water.
Moinhos has everything you need for a comfortable stay by the water:
- lifeguards;
- shower cabins;
- toilets;
- bar with drinks and snacks.
One of the major attractions of the island is located near the beach - the old Gorrean tea plantation with a factory that has been operating here since 1883. On the plantation (the only one in Europe) you can observe the production of tea, taste a drink and buy a package of your favorite variety.
When is it better to go
The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
