Porto Pim beach

The beach and the bottom of the lagoon is covered with sand, which is considered the brightest in the Azores. Entering the water is very convenient and safe, even with little unrest. It is a quiet and peaceful beach, well suited for families. Porto Pim is equipped with everything necessary for comfortable bathing and sunbathing, free parking for vehicles is nearby.

The beach is located near the town of Horta. Relaxation by the ocean is easy to combine with visits to local restaurants and shops. Also one of the viewing platforms of the island is nearby. There are a lot of hotels and apartments in Horta, you can rent a house without any problems.

Pleasure boats regularly depart from the local harbor, where tourists can set off to observe many large inhabitants of the ocean. During this tour you will have opportunity to see:

• whales;
• dolphins;
• marlins;
• rare deep-sea jellyfish.

The trip takes about 4 hours, in the end of it all the participants receive a certificate listing all animals that were met during the trip.

When is it better to go

The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
