Beach description
A mere ten-minute walk from the center of Odessa leads you to the grandiose 19th-century arch marking the entrance to Lanzheron Beach. This beach is the first you'll encounter along a 6-kilometer stretch of coastline linking several of Odessa's seaside retreats.
Encircled by low yet steep limestone cliffs adorned with verdant foliage, Lanzheron Beach is a haven of tranquility. A staircase, flanked by two massive spheres, guides visitors down to the beach's crystal-clear waters. The shore is blanketed with pristine, fine sand. To the left, a less frequented area trades sand for concrete slabs. Sturdy piers buffer the force of the waves, while an underwater monolithic breakwater, situated 50 meters from the shore, calms the sea's surge.
Lanzheron Beach seamlessly merges with another beloved leisure spot - Shevchenko Park. The park's lookout points boast panoramic vistas of the Gulf of Odessa and the bustling seaport. At the park's core, a monument soars in tribute to one of Tsar Alexander II's visits to Odessa.
- Best Time to Visit:
The best time to visit Ukraine for a beach vacation is during the summer months, specifically from June to August. This period offers the most favorable weather conditions for enjoying the country's beautiful Black Sea coastline.
- June: The onset of summer brings warm temperatures and longer days, making it an ideal time for beach activities and swimming. However, early June can sometimes be less crowded, offering a more relaxed atmosphere.
- July: Peak season arrives in July, with hot weather and the warmest sea temperatures. This is the perfect time for sunbathing and water sports, but expect more tourists and higher prices.
- August: The warm conditions continue, and while it's still peak season, the latter part of August may see fewer crowds as the month progresses. It's a great time to enjoy the full swing of summer before it winds down.
Regardless of the month you choose, the summer season in Ukraine offers a vibrant beach experience with numerous resorts, festivals, and cultural events along the coast. Just remember to book accommodations in advance during these popular months to secure the best spots.
