Beach description
Bells Beach is nestled within a 300-meter bay. Like many beaches in the region, it is flanked by towering cliffs. The entire stretch is blanketed with vibrant, bright orange sand. The waves here are consistently high, preventing the formation of sandbars and causing the beach to deepen quite abruptly.
For surfers, the beach poses a moderate risk, rated at a 6 on the danger scale. Swimming is not recommended due to the strong waves, the potential for shark encounters, rip currents, and the chilly water temperature. However, the local scenery is breathtaking. Bells Beach maintains a wild character, offering minimal services to its visitors. Amenities include a well-equipped ocean access and a car park. In close proximity, there are restrooms and shower facilities, along with drinking fountains. The nearest hotels are situated in the town of Torquay.
