Old Bight beach

Old Bight Beach is a picturesque beach on the southwestern outskirts of Cat Islands, located next to the village of the same name. It differs not only in beautiful landscapes, but also in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility uncharacteristic for Bahamian beaches. The 8 km long shore makes it easy to find a secluded place for privacy here. Therefore, Old Byte Beach is very popular among couples in love and lovers of romantic picnics on the ocean coast and long walks by the ocean.

Beach description

This beach, covered with very clean and shining light pink sand, is also a perfect place for family recreation. Children are especially fond of walking down the beach and looking for colorful shells. But adults should also be careful and look after their kids because water depth increases sharply already starting from the very beach.

Water here has the special light blue tincture and is transparent, giving a possibility for snorkeling. Light breeze and small waves do not prevent you from diving here, moreover, snorkeling is possible even near the beach. You will enjoy visiting the neighboring New Bite beach the trip to which on taxi will take only a few minutes.

When is it better to go?

Holidays in the Bahamas are good at any time of the year, but the busy season is in the period from mid-November to May. The Bahamas are disposed quite low in relation to sea level, so the wind blows in the winter months, but it is gentle and soberly pleasant. The air temperature is between 27-29 degrees from the end of autumn to the beginning of summer. Traveling with children, it is better to come in the autumn months, while the spring is more appropriate to go for new emotions, and peacefully enjoy the sunshine – in winter.
