Dadonghai beach

Dadonghai is one of the most visited Chinese beaches, located in southern part of Hainan, about 4 km from big touristic center Sanya. Favorable natural conditions combined with developed infrastructure made Dadonghai an ideal place for a good rest.

Beach description

Dadonghai Beach has the shape of a crescent, stretching along the coast of the South China sea for 3 km. The shore is covered with fine white sand and surrounded by palms, in the shade of which guests can enjoy the soft breeze and admire the clean sea surface. The beach offers a unique view of the mountains Tui Jiwei and Liu Hui Tou.

The beach is affected by tides, the water goes to 20-25 meters. The gradual entry to the sea, shallow water near the shore, the bottom without pebbles and depressions save couples with children from unnecessary worries.

However, outside the area marked by buoys, pass unsafe streams. That's why swimming is allowed till 7 p.m. under the lifeguard's supervision.

When is it better to go

The most favorable time for visiting Hainan – is the period from December to March, when warm and mild weather with an optimum temperature of 23-25 °C is established. Summer in Hainan begins in June and ends in November. These are the "hottest" months of the year – with heat up to 39 °C, typhoons, rains and storms. Holidays in February will provide an opportunity to celebrate the Chinese New Year, but will require a lot of spending.

Infrastructure

Along the beach stretches a number of small covered gazebos with sunbeds. There are toilets, showers, washbasins. There is a paved road with a palm alley for the promenade. Several rescue towers ensure the safety of tourists.

Due to the extreme popularity and large flow of tourists on Dadonghai beach appeared a huge variety of hotels, apartments and hotels. Every tourists can find suitable for budget and comfort level option. Also, the advantage of staying at the hotel is the free provision of sun loungers and umbrellas.

Along the beach there are a lot of budget cafes, bars, tea houses and restaurants. Menus of some cafes include:

  • dumplings;
  • meat with spicy sauce;
  • noodles;

The seductive aroma of grilled barbecue spreads all over the beach from the Food Square. Pineapple and coconut juice are offered to street fast food.

3 km northwest of the beach there is a seafood market where tourists can buy fresh and inexpensive products. A rich assortment of food offers is also waiting for visitors in coastal shopping centers.

There are several diving schools of different levels. The health centers are waiting for adherents of folk methods of healing and provide services of acupuncture and reflexology, herbal medicine, massage. On the East side of the beach there is an Amusement Park with breathtaking attractions "Pirate boat", "Carousel", "Bungee jumping".

A five-minute walk along the coast will lead to the seaside park. Many people are attracted by the pavilion, located on top of a small mountain, overlooking the entire resort area. After sunset, the resort is illuminated with rainbow illumination.

Useful information

    < li>Dadonghai Beach is a 10-minute drive from Sanya city centre and 50 minutes from the airport. The destination is easily accessible by public transport.
  1. Dadonghai is one of Sanya's cleanest beaches, though free.
  2. In most local shops people pay only in cash, so it is better to withdraw money from the card immediately after arrival.
