Susak beach

It's a small beach, located in the heart of a convenient bay on the island of the same name (Susak, the Italians sometimes say “Sansego”). It's located in the depths of the Adriatic Sea on the north in Kvarner Bay. The island is very small, with a residential population of less than two hundred people.

Beach description

It has become popular due to its intricately rugged coastline, which (only 12 kilometers around the whole island) combines the most different landscapes. Central beach is the pearl of the place. It's located in the most populated part and faces the bay of Susak, quite shallow, suitable for swimming almost everywhere except in the northwestern part where the ferry dock is located. The beach is almost entirely made of sand. Only in some places there're small pebbles, looking more like large grains of sand.

The island can only be reached by ferry or by a individually ordered yacht. The closest way is from Pula or Rabac. The most frequent ferries are from Rijeka, the largest city on the coast.

When is the best time to go?

Although the summer in Croatia is hot (the temperature can rise up to 30 degrees), but thanks to the sea breezes it is very pleasant - the best time for a beach holiday. If you want to see the sights of this country rich in historical events, it is better to choose tours in spring or autumn: firstly, the weather is comfortable, and secondly, there are not so many tourists in these times of the year, which positively affects prices.
