Jurata Beach

The city Jurata is located on the spit which fences Gdansk Bay from the north. Those who go to Hel resort usually pass through this city. Jurata is a bit less well-known and popular then its neighbour. But it also offers the same amazing and wonderful vacation.

Beach description

The beach in Jurata is located in the northern part. There it reaches almost 100 m wide. The beach and main roads are separated with artificially planted forest where some hotels and boarding houses are located. As for the sand, it is yellowy-white, and seems dirty gray from a height or from the side. However, the whole beach is cleaned regularly. Along the beach line, stylised like trees and bushes and therefore inconspicuous litter bins are installed.

A few hundred years ago, neighboring Hel was a cluster of islands. And over time, with currents, sand and separate stones began to settle in shallow water. As a result, a separate spit appeared. The sand has been never brought here outside. Therefore, exclusively Baltic ancient sands, that were here before, were preserved.

The northern beach of Jurata is equipped primarily for a simple beach vacation therefore it is in demand all year round. Strong winds are rare here, which allows to walk along the non-freezing sea all year round, even if without possibility of swimming. During the summer high season in July-August, in the southern part, there are a lot of water attractions: slides, jet skis, and pleasure tours. During the whole year, fishing can be offered to guests.

When is the best time to go?

The best time to come to the Baltic resorts in Poland is the hottest months of the summer, from July to August.

Infrastructure

You can get to the city by car: wether by own car or a rented one in Gdansk. You can also go by train. Minibuses run from the bus station and the railway station to most hotels to make it more convenient for a tourist to get to a vacation spot. There are a lot of hotels in the city. However, if you do not want to spend half an hour each time to reach the beach, it would be better to stay nereby. For example, in Plaza Jastarnia (Plaza Jastarnia). Taking into account its secluded location (about 1 km away from the center), the cost here will be slightly higher than average, so single rooms can be found at a price of 50 euros per day. As for double rooms, you will be able to rent them for 60-65 euros. When booking, it is worth to use several different services on the Internet. And it would be better to use English ones.

Useful information

  1. the northern coast of the spit extends over the Baltic coast, that;s why the wave there is usually higher, in the southern part the sea is calmer and slightly smaller. The water there is warmer by a couple of degrees. However, the main infrastructure is located on the south coast, that;s why there are always more people there.
  2. There is an amusement park in the center of the city, and there is a water park not far from ferry and port. Near the water park there is an amazingly beautiful place - Mol Yastarnia. Perhaps visiting of this place will cause deja vu, as many tourists have photos of it, and its view is recognizable in various advertisements and booklets.
