Sopot Beach

Sopot is a small Poland city situated on the Baltic coast between Gdansk and Gdynia. The city with its beaches became famous as a vacation spot back to the time of the German Empire. Before the First World War, naval officers who served nearby in Danzig, often spent their holidays here . And today, it is well-known far beyond Poland, here you can often meet guests from neighbouring countries: Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia.

Beach description

As a resort, Sopot arose back to the time when its territory belonged to Prussia. Like most of territories that were set up within German lands, the resort was originally created according to quite strict rules.

The beaches themselves are mainly covered with fine sand, pebbles or coarse sand can be met quite rarely. They stretch along the whole city which is located near the beach in the form of a thin long stripe. You can get to the swimming place from almost anywhere in Sopot. The sea is not deep near the beach, the shallow water extends over a couple of meters. Therefore, in some places you can admire quite exotic landscapes with long jetties and wooden marinas. One of them is the largest of those in all of Europe.

The beaches are regularly cleaned from different garbage, even despite they are quite long and wide and in some places can be up to hundreds of meters. Also, there are a lot of litter bins and rescue observation posts along the whole sandy beach. In many places, houses are located right near the water. Meanwhile, they are covered by the shade of trees, which is very convenient during the sunshine.

A large number of waterfowl is another feature of this beach Flocks of white swans that behave completely like the are hosts, and are not afraid of people, are especially attractive in this regard. Very often, birds like to play with children, that certainly will not leave them indifferent.
