Taganrog Central Beach
This is the oldest city beach, officially opened to the public back in 1934. It is located in the central part of Taganrog near Shevchenko street and is bordered by Don and Italian lanes. You can get to it by public transport, the landmark is the restaurant "Domik Rybaka". In 2014, the beach was quite badly damaged by a hurricane and since then has not been fully restored. This is not the best way reflected in its popularity, besides in the city there are new modern beaches with developed infrastructure and an appropriate level of service.

The Beach is a sandy strip with a length of 385 meters, conditionally divided into three parts by concrete breakwaters. Thanks to them, makeshift harbors were formed, which because of the small depth more like children's “paddling-pool”. Because of this, there are always a lot of moms with kids who boldly let their children frolic on their own in the warm shallow sea. However, there are sharp stones and fragments of half-ruined storm piers in some places on the bottom, which can be accidentally injured.
Rescuers are on duty and the paramedic point works in the territory. You can have a snack and quench your thirst in small cafes and eateries. Beer and ice cream can be purchased in the shopping tents. There is a net for volleyball, children's bouncy castle slides and trampolines. It is possible to rent a boat or catamaran.
Entrance to the beach is free. Opening hours: from 8 a.m. to 20 p.m. The beach is fenced, the entry of vehicles on it is prohibited. You can find out the temperature of sea water and air from the information stand at the entrance, as well as read the announcements of the administration.
When is the best time to go?
The climate of the Azov coast is somewhat similar to the Crimean: as dry but hotter. In the second half of summer, the temperature often rises to 30 degrees and above, stuffy reigns. To make the rest more comfortable, it is worth choosing the period from the end of May to the first half of July. The temperature of water and air at this time does not drop below 20 degrees, and the sun does not bake so much.

There is a large number of hotels, guest houses and rental apartments in the Central beach area. This is due not only to the proximity to the sea and parks, but also to the railway station, through which trains go to Moscow and Rostov. Therefore, Taganrog is often used by transit tourists as a transshipment base, where during the stop you can also swim in the Sea of Azov.
The Beach is equipped with toilets and showers. There are several sunshades, benches for rest and the remains of a children's play complex. Everything is in a rather neglected state and has long been in need of major repairs.
