Taganrog Sunny Beach
A few years ago, the Solnechniy (sunny) beach was one of the most popular beaches in Taganrog. Hurricane 2014 partially destroyed the coastline, and now only a third of it is suitable for safe swimming. You can to get to the beach, just go down the famous Depaldo Stone Steps to the sea and turn left from it. Portovaya street leads from the port to the Solnechniy beach. The entrance to the beach is at the intersection with Admiral Kruis street. Solnechniy beach is bordered by a paid private beach "Eliseevsky" from the South.

Suitable for swimming and sunbathing part of Solnechniy beach starts from Greenwich Park Hotel and stretches to the beach "Eliseevsky". The coastline is narrow, covered with sand mixed with shells. The sea is shallow and warm. The bottom is safe, which is ideal for families with small children. The beach is equipped with showers, changing rooms, a toilet and fountains with drinking water. Order and safety are monitored by rescuers. Surveillance is organized in the summer months from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
You can have a snack in the coastal fast food and cafes. Drinks and ice cream can be purchased in the shopping tents and shops on the waterfront. There are water rides on a banana, snowtubing and jet ski. Bouncy castle slides and trampolines organized for children.
The rest of the Solnechniy beach is unsuitable for swimming. The shore is washed away and littered with pieces of concrete parapet. There are forbidding signs everywhere. Cafe Calypso enlivens the gloomy landscape, which hosts discos and other entertainment events in the evenings. The mood can be spoiled by mosquitoes. So you should take repellents with you, when planning to spend an evening by the sea.

You need to go down the Depaldo Stone Steps, to get from the city center to Pushkin embankment and Solnechniy beach. The Depaldo Stone Steps was built in 1823. with funds allocated by local patron Gerasim Depaldo. It has 188 steps. The upper observation deck offers a magnificent view of the embankment and the Taganrog Bay, especially during sea holidays and military-historical reconstructions.
