Wineglass Bay beach

Wineglass Bay - a beach in a bay on the east coast of the island, in the territory of the Freysine National Park. You can get from Hobart Airport by taxi or bus to the city of Swansea or Colz Bay, and from there on a rented car or pleasure boat Wineglass-Bay to the bay.

Beach description

The shore in the form of a regular semicircle is covered with white sand. The slope into the water is sloping, the bottom is sandy. The water is mostly calm, crystal clear. The beach is suitable for swimming, diving and snorkeling. There aren't many people on Wineglass Bay, so can always find places to rest with your family and have a picnic. On the hill near the beach, there is an observation deck with stunning views of the romantic bay called 'Wine Glass", the surrounding forests and the deep sapphire sea. There are parking lots and camping areas where you can stay for a couple of days. For vacation with your family in Wineglass Bay, you should bring food and drinks, water amusement equipment, umbrellas and rugs, and a tent.

When is it better to go

The busiest swimming season in Australia lasts from December to February. In this summer, for the southern latitudes, the mainland heats up to 25-30 °C, in places up to 40 °C. In winter (June to August) the air is cooled down to 11 °C. May and September are considered the best beach months with a cloudless sky and not too active sun.
