The Huahin Island is located 175 km from Tahiti. In fact, these are two islands, Big and Small, connected by the bridge.

Beach description

The most popular beaches stretch along the coast of Big Huahine. The beach strip is long, but narrow. The coast is sand and shingle, in some places stones. Coral reefs protect from waves, they also play the role of natural filters. Therefore, the water here, like on all islands of French Polynesia, is clean.

The island has an unique nature. Here even a sunray at the time of sunset becomes emerald. No wonder that ancient beliefs and local legends ascribe divine origin and mystical power to the island.

"Ceremonies" of feeding sharks and observing marine inhabitants are also organised for tourists. There are two-meter eels In the local stream, which local people consider sacred. By the way, it is not recommended to swim far in these waters, as sharks swim in the local waters.

You can get to the island from Tahiti or other nearest islands in half an hour by plane of local airlines.

When is it better to go

The tropical climate of the Society of French Polynesia Islands allows you to relax here all year round. Air temperature always keeps at + 25-27˚С. The water temperature is in the same range, and a light breeze from the ocean allows you not to notice the heat. But the period from October to April is considered the best time to relax, when it is actually a summer on the islands. In winter, travelers say the weather is very unpredictable.
