Another Hatiheu bay, located on the north coast, attracts not only by calm water, but also by ancient monuments of the island culture. Here you can see stone statues of gods, petroglyphs carved on boulders. Get here by boat. Robert Louis Stevenson, author of Treasure Island, who spent many years on the Marquesas Islands because of his poor health, was very fond of this place.
There are many picturesque places, waterfalls and valleys on Nuku Hiva. Аhuii is one of waterfalls, locating in the Hakaui valley, falls in cascades from a height of 350 m.
You can get to the Island by plane of local airlines from Tahiti in 3,5 hours.
When is it better to go
The tropical climate of the Society of French Polynesia Islands allows you to relax here all year round. Air temperature always keeps at + 25-27˚С. The water temperature is in the same range, and a light breeze from the ocean allows you not to notice the heat. But the period from October to April is considered the best time to relax, when it is actually a summer on the islands. In winter, travelers say the weather is very unpredictable.
