Tikehau beach

Tiny Tikehau island which is ideally round in shape and 1 km in diameter, is 300 km away from Tahiti.

Beach description

Sandy beaches here are a delicate white and pink color, which like starch, crunches. The best beach on the island is Les Sables-Roses.

The island is also called a natural aquarium, as up to 350 species of fish live in the inner lagoon, in clear water. An unique place for diving, which was once appreciated by Jacques-Yves Cousteau. “Dances of sea rays”, packs of barracudas or schools of tuna - all this causes great delight among divers. It is recommended to stock up on an underwater camera to capture these moments.

There is a very secluded place here, and even hotel bungalows are located at a sufficiently great distance from each other. The very name of the island translates as "quiet place". Here you can stay, forgetting about civilization. Maybe so romantic couples and new-married love to come to the island. If you get tired of solitude, there is the large island of the Rangiroa archipelago not far from here, where turbulent life, a lot of night clubs, restaurants and shops are in full swing.

You can get to Tikehau by plane from Tahiti or other nearest islands in half an hour.

When is it better to go

The tropical climate of the Society of French Polynesia Islands allows you to relax here all year round. Air temperature always keeps at + 25-27˚С. The water temperature is in the same range, and a light breeze from the ocean allows you not to notice the heat. But the period from October to April is considered the best time to relax, when it is actually a summer on the islands. In winter, travelers say the weather is very unpredictable.
