Oholei beach

Oholei is a public beach in the South-East of the island of Tongatapu, located near the local airport.

Beach description

There is a white sand on the beach and different stones. In places, the resort meets impregnable grottoes, caves and rocks. Water is transparent, clean and warm, no streams. Lowering of the bottom is smooth, the sea is warm, the bottom is sandy. The conditions are suitable for families with children.

Accomodation can be bookes in airport near the Oholei Beach and within Lavengatonga village. Here are family guesthouses with all necessary infrastructure for comfortable holiday. They're booked on spot, because it's difficult to fulfill in Internet due to absence of such hotels in international systems.

The beach infrastructure is greatly developed. There are cafes and restaurants, fire shows are held. Local food of seafood and fish is worth of trying. Those who want to have fun ride a boat, go diving, in the evenings go to disco bars. Resort conditions are excellent for scuba diving, surfing and diving. Locals sell self made souvenirs, fruit, vegetables and fish.

When is it better to go

The beaches of the Tonga archipelago have a predominantly humid tropical climate. There are no temperature fluctuations in the northern islands, and in the south they are – within 5 degrees. February – is the hottest month, during the day the temperature rises to 30 - 32 degrees Celsius. Between July and September it is cooler. The rainy season lasts from November to April. Powerful tropical cyclones unfold at this time on the archipelago, the weather is stormy. The best time for recreation on the beaches of Tonga is the period from May to October.
