Just a 15-minute journey from the renowned port and fishing town, this beach boasts a vibrant coastline that captivates the senses. Beach description

The long and often deserted shore of Tahiti Beach, save for the occasional arrival of cruise boats with their noisy tourist crowds, epitomizes the concept of a tropical paradise. Here, an atmosphere of peace, privacy, and relaxation prevails. Holidaymakers will find:

  • Very fine and incredibly clean, soft white sand stretching across the shore;
  • Incredibly clear and calm sea waters, with a turquoise surface that shimmers in the sun;
  • A large sand spit near the shore, adding to the beach's unique charm;
  • Unspoiled nature, offering the illusion of being on a deserted island paradise;
  • Beautiful shells scattered in the sand and starfish in the local waters.

Tahiti Beach is one of the prime spots in Elbow Cay for those who cherish silence, privacy, and a sense of unity with nature. The coast is adorned with coral and limestone cliffs, lending the landscape a fantastical view and making it an ideal setting for romantic photo shoots. Tahiti Beach is also family-friendly, especially for those with babies, due to its generally safe swimming conditions.

With the presence of many colorful fish and rays that are often found here, along with the excellent transparency of the local waters, snorkeling is highly recommended. However, visitors will need to bring their own equipment.

Swimmers should exercise caution as the beach is not monitored by lifeguards, and sharks may be present in the waters. Sea urchins are also occasionally encountered, so wearing rubber slippers is advisable for safety. Excursions typically arrive in the evening, allowing visitors to admire the breathtaking sunset on the beach. During this time, the shore may host around a dozen boats.

When is the best time to go?

The best time to visit Abaco for a beach vacation is largely dependent on the traveler's preferences for weather, crowds, and local events. However, there are certain periods that offer an ideal balance for most visitors.

  • Late Spring (April to early June): This period is perfect for those looking to enjoy warm temperatures without the peak summer crowds. The water is ideal for swimming, and the weather is generally sunny and pleasant.
  • Early Fall (late September to October): After the summer rush, this time offers a quieter experience with still warm weather and less chance of tropical storms than in the peak hurricane season (June to November).
  • Winter (December to February): For those who prefer cooler temperatures, this is a great time to visit. The island is less crowded, and while it might be too chilly for swimming, the weather is perfect for beach walks and outdoor activities.

It's important to note that the peak hurricane season, from June to November, can be risky, so it's advisable to monitor weather forecasts if planning a trip during this time. Ultimately, the best time to visit Abaco for a beach vacation depends on the visitor's personal preferences for weather, water activities, and the overall atmosphere they are seeking.

Useful information

  1. Between Great Abaco (Marsh Harbor) and Elbow Cay a ferry runs daily (three times a day). The way takes about 20 minutes. You can get to Tahiti Beach from Elbow Cay on foot, by bicycle (along sandy paths), by electric car (the best option from Hope Town) on land or by boat on the sea. The latter option is most optimal, especially if you book a sea excursion with visits to other beaches in the vicinity.
  2. Near the beach (about 3 km from it) you should definitely visit the picturesque old lighthouse in Hope Town, whose 36-meter red-white tower is visible from afar and is accessible for tourists. It is interesting that it originally served as a trap. Mariners came to its light, and ran into reefs, and local residents caught cargo and sold. From the height of this tower you can see the picturesque surroundings and neighboring beaches, which are famous for the Elbow Cay. Next to it there is Garbanzo Beach, which is popular among surfers.
  3. About 5 km from the beach, you should visit the Cetacean Museum – one of the most interesting sights in the region. In Elbow Cay there is a diving center where you can take diving lessons. And this area is a paradise for fans of birdwatching. Here you can watch more than fifty different species of birds.
