Levera beach

Levera Beach, nestled on the southeast coast of Grenada, is where the tranquil Caribbean Sea converges with the vast Atlantic Ocean. This picturesque locale boasts a slender stretch of pristine white sand, flanked by dramatic cliffs that offer a breathtaking backdrop for your beach vacation.

Beach description

Thanks to the coral reefs that protect the coast from waves, the water here is calm and shallow. No sharks, moray eels, or other potentially dangerous underwater dwellers can reach this tranquil sanctuary. The descent into the water is very smooth, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for swimmers of all levels.

While the infrastructure may not be highly developed, essentials such as umbrella and sunbed rentals are available. Beyond sunbathing, visitors can partake in a variety of activities including snorkeling, diving, and fishing. The nearby resort town of Sauteurs offers accommodation options ranging from hotel rooms to bungalows and apartments, providing a comfortable place to rest. Additionally, a selection of restaurants and cafes can be found there, along with vibrant night parties for those seeking evening entertainment.

Levera Beach is part of a national nature park, home to many rare bird species that nest in the area. The beach is also favored by turtles, which bury their eggs in the sand. Night excursions offer a unique opportunity to witness turtle hatchlings as they embark on their inaugural journey to the sea.

Located 40 kilometers from St. George's, Levera Beach is most accessible by car. The drive takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, offering a scenic route to this coastal paradise.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Grenada for a beach vacation is during the dry season, which runs from January to May. This period offers the most favorable weather conditions for enjoying the island's stunning beaches and outdoor activities.

  • January to April: These months are the peak of the dry season, with minimal rainfall and plenty of sunshine, making it the ideal time for sunbathing and water sports.
  • May: As the transition month leading into the wet season, May still offers many sunny days with the added benefit of fewer tourists and potentially lower prices.

While the wet season, from June to December, can still provide sunny spells, it also brings increased humidity and the chance of tropical showers. However, if you don't mind occasional rain and are looking for a quieter experience, the off-peak months can also be a good option.
