Beach description
Tyrell Bay Beach has whote soft sand, calm and shallow waters and smooth descent. Compact hostels and luxurious hotels are located on the shore. You can visit cafes and restaurants to try local cuisine and rum - traditional beverage. The beach has a small pier with moored private yachts. There's also a yacht club where you can rent one and go fishing on the high season or tour along the coast.
300 years ago this was one of the most famous Caribbean slave markets. Slaves from Africa were transported here, the majority were then transferred elsewhere, while some remained here forever. This is why people of various religions, as well as rituals performed by natives, can be encountered in Carriacou. Carnivals that attract many tourists are especially popular here.
The island has its own airport that takes flights from Grenada. You can get to the beach by taxi, or by taking a 30-minute walk.
When is it better to go
In the Caribbean you can relax all year round. It is always warm here. Even in the coldest season, the air temperature is never lower than +27˚. There is no concept of winter or summer, but there are wet and dry seasons.
In the rainy season (June to December) it is very humid, there are winds and storms. May – a transitional month, unpredictable, although there are already fewer rains, winds are also blowing strongly. This time is popular with surfers who come to Grenada to catch a wave.
The best time for the beach season is from January to April. During the day, the air temperature does not exceed +29˚, and at night +22˚. Water warms up to +26˚.
