Morne Rouge beach

Morne Rouge is fully covered in greens, and its waters are calm and clear. The descent is smooth and the waters are shallow, perfect for children. The white grainy sand is always kept clean. You can rent umbrellas and deck chairs, or hide from the heat in the shadows of coastal trees.

It's not as crowded here as on the nearby Grande-Anse beach, the biggest one on the island. The infrastructure isn't well-developed, but water attractions aren't hard to come by. Wreck diving (exploring sunken ships) enthusiasts can enjoy an interesting site here - the remains of Bianca C passenger ship. If you don't have scuba gear, you can explore the underwater fauna with just a mask and a tube. Those who like active leisure can rent scooters, catamarans and water skis at the beach.

The town itself has numerous decent hotels of various quality, as well as cafes, restaurants and shops. There's even the big Spice Island Mall shopping center here. Souvenir shops operate along the shoreline. The local market, where you can try different local curiosities and spices, leaves a great impression. The town is home to the National Museum and an 18-century fort whose cannons still fire during holidays.

You can get to Morne Rouge by taxi, or rent a car. 10 km separate the town from the capital, and it takes 20 minutes to drive here.

When is it better to go

In the Caribbean you can relax all year round. It is always warm here. Even in the coldest season, the air temperature is never lower than +27˚. There is no concept of winter or summer, but there are wet and dry seasons.

In the rainy season (June to December) it is very humid, there are winds and storms. May – a transitional month, unpredictable, although there are already fewer rains, winds are also blowing strongly. This time is popular with surfers who come to Grenada to catch a wave.

The best time for the beach season is from January to April. During the day, the air temperature does not exceed +29˚, and at night +22˚. Water warms up to +26˚.
