Ramlet El-Baida beach

Is located on Lebanon western coast and is the only municipal beach of Beirut, the capital of the country. In recent years this place became a real battlefield for public organizations and private developers, who want to turn this are into private resort. For the huge, choking in the hot cement city with lack of greenery, this will be a disaster, that's why activists regularly protest and ask international human rights organizations for help.

Beach description

The beach is located along the southern end of Corniche Quay in Beirut,at the intersection of General de Gaulle avenue and Rafic Hariri avenue. It is a quite long coastline, covered with golden sand and washed by turquoise waters of Mediterranean sea. Despite the size of the beach, it's always full of people. The main contingent is youth and residents of poor districts, who can't afford to visit private resorts. On the beach guests can play football or volleyball, enjoy water attractions, smoke shisha and relax in beach cafes.

When is the best time to go?

The climate in southern Lebanon is very reminiscent of the Mediterranean – summers are very hot and dry, and winters are rainy. The best time for a beach holiday is from May to October, during the hottest months, the air temperature reaches 37 degrees, and the sea warms up to 29.
