Umm Bab beach

It is located on the west coast of Katar next to the village of the same name. Locals call this place Al-Graig ("Palm trees beach") thanks to nice palms framing the coastline. From Doha, the capital of Qatar, to the village of Umm Bab is a modern highway, the road takes about two hours.

Beach description

The main advantage of this beach is its remoteness and no crowds. There are no fashionable hotels and modern resorts, that's why Umm Bab Beach is perfect for family barbecues and a secluded holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are toilets, showers and changing booths on the beach, playgrounds and sportsgrounds.

The sea is shallow and calm, the bottom is flat and sandy. Some entertainments: water attractions, horse riding and camel riding, and also extreme dunes races on quads and SUVs.

There is a possibility to rent sunbed, umbrellas and barbecue facilities. Many tourists come with their own tents to spend here several days. If the weather is bad and it's impossible to sleep on the beach, tourists can go to the village, where local residents won't refuse shelter and will allocate a place for a tent near their homes.

The best time to go to a holiday on Umm Bab Beach is Spring and Autumn, when there is no tiring hot weather and sandstorms. In Winter the temperature is quite nice too, however sea water won't be warmer then 20-22 degrees.

When is it better to go?

April-May and September-November are regarded as the best time to visit the east coast of Qatar. There is no sweltering heat during these months, and sea water warms up to 27-28 degrees.
