Zekreet beach

Located in the Gulf of Zekreet on the West coast of Qatar, 80 kilometers from Doha. A speedway is going from the capital city to the beach, tourists should turn right in 5 kilometers from the city. Further, the road passes along the bizarre desert "mushrooms", towering over low sand dunes, and rests on a rocky shore, completely unexpected for the usual flat landscape of Qatar.

Beach description

Zekreet is a small cozy bay, curved in the form of a crescent and surrounded by picturesque limestone cliffs. The shore is covered with golden sand mixed with rocky areas, quite sharp for unprotected feet. The bottom is also resembles hard pumice, so visitors should take care of special rubber shoes.

The sea here is shallow, warm and crystal clean, which is perfect option for diving and snorkeling, counting a huge number of sea creatures. These places are also very popular among fans of kitesurfing, windsurfing and paragliding, who are attracted by fresh air and convenient launch pads on the tops of the surrounding rocks.

The shore is wild and unequipped, so it's better to take all useful things like umbrellas, beach chairs, barbecue facilities and food and water supplies. The first aid kit will be handy too, because nearest medical center is a few kilometers away.

Near the beach there are quite a lot of interesting places which are worth to visit. These are the remains of an ancient Fort and ancient settlements, a majestic Palace built by a local film studio for the production of films, as well as the famous mushroom pillars, giving the whole area a rather surreal look.

When is it better to go?

April-May and September-November are regarded as the best time to visit the east coast of Qatar. There is no sweltering heat during these months, and sea water warms up to 27-28 degrees.
