Tofo beach

The coastline and the bottom consist of fine white sand. The slope of the bottom is gentle. The sea is calm in the morning, high long waves rise in the afternoon for experienced surfers, swimming is difficult.

Tofo – one of the most popular resorts in Mozambique and a favorite beach of divers – Manta Reef is home to whale sharks, mantas, humpback whales, dolphins, exotic fish, marlins, barracudas. The coast has many diving centers. From the onshore entertainment, ATVs are popular and available for rent. On this transport, you can easily explore the beach, visit the surroundings and get to know African culture. There are many local sights in the city.

The beach is popular with youth and backpackers coming here from all over the world. The infrastructure is better developed than on other beaches of the coast: many restaurants, nightclubs, cafes, bars, rental centers with equipment for kayaking, surfing, snorkeling, diving. They also teach these water sports here. The most popular food on Tofo – dishes from fresh seafood, available here at budget prices. The beach is in a 25 minute drive from the local airport by car or bus. There are several hotels and bungalows along the coast.

When is it better to go

In Mozambique, the climate is peculiar: in the north it is close to equatorial (up to +28), in the south, trade winds, tropical (up to + 22). During the year, it is divided into two main seasons. The wet lasts from October to March - the period of cyclones and prolonged tropical downpours throughout the country. Dry – from April to September. Droughts are frequent. In winter, the water in the ocean warms up to +24, in the summer it keeps marks from +26 to +29 degrees.
