Anse Intendance beach

Anse Intendance is one of the most beautiful beaches of Seychelles, which is located in the bay on the southwestern coast of Mahe Island. Through the dense rain forest there is a twisting road from the airport.

Beach description

Anse Intendance is covered with fine white sand. Close to the beach line with a width of about 20 m grow tropical thickets. The beach is 700m long. Anse Intendance is owned by fashionable Banyan Tree Seychelles Hotel, the cost of living in which reaches €4000, but the entrance to the beach is open to all comers. Except for the bar and a shower there is no other infrastructure. There are a few visitors. Here prefer to relax wildlife lovers and surfers. The entrance to the water is gentle, the bottom is sandy and rocky, but only few people dare to swim. Almost all year round the waves here are very high. For holiday with children it's better to find another beach. It's dangerous to enter the water. Anse Intendance is a perfect place for surfing. Necessary equipment should be taken with because on the beach there are no rental agencies.

People can get there by bus, but public transport on the island is not the best way of traveling. Buses run rarely and irregularly. It's better to go by rented car using GPS. There is parking near the beach.

When is it better to go

The Seychelles archipelago is located in the subequatorial climatic zone, which is characterized by stable sunny weather with little rainfall, without cyclones and sudden changes in daily and seasonal temperatures. The heat characteristic of the equator is tempered by the Indian Ocean. Air temperature ranges from + 27-33 °C.

  • From December to April, the northeastern monsoons dominate the Seychelles. It is quite hot and humid, with heavy rains. Air temperature reaches a maximum. Water in the ocean warms up to + 30 °C.
  • From June to October, the islands are in the grip of southeast monsoons. Humidity decreases significantly, the temperature is + 27-29 °C.
  • The best time for swimming, diving, snorkeling is October and November, as well as the period from February to May.
  • For surfing and sailing, it is advisable to set out from October to March.
