Carana beach

Carana is a good beach on the territory of hotel Carana Beach Hotel in the northern coast of Mahe island.

Beach description

The coast is covered with fine white sand, huge boulders and majestic cliffs. The beach is suitable for swimming, but not too comfortable, there are strong currents and high waves. The coastline length is 200 metres. The beach is suitable for recreation throughout the year. The water is turquoise, clear and transparent. The bottom deepens sharply, so conditions are not suitable for families with young children. Tourists can take refuge in the shade of high cliffs and tall palm trees throughout the day. Carana is a beautiful secluded resort, where tourists go to enjoy the peace and quiet.

On the beach there are umbrellas and sun loungers, bar and restaurant for guests staying at the local hotel. The beach is popular among surfing and windsurfing fans. In these place, high waves rise, sometimes strong wind blows.

When is it better to go

The Seychelles archipelago is located in the subequatorial climatic zone, which is characterized by stable sunny weather with little rainfall, without cyclones and sudden changes in daily and seasonal temperatures. The heat characteristic of the equator is tempered by the Indian Ocean. Air temperature ranges from + 27-33 °C.

  • From December to April, the northeastern monsoons dominate the Seychelles. It is quite hot and humid, with heavy rains. Air temperature reaches a maximum. Water in the ocean warms up to + 30 °C.
  • From June to October, the islands are in the grip of southeast monsoons. Humidity decreases significantly, the temperature is + 27-29 °C.
  • The best time for swimming, diving, snorkeling is October and November, as well as the period from February to May.
  • For surfing and sailing, it is advisable to set out from October to March.
