Beach description
The beach is covered with light sand. The entry into the water is moderately shallow, the bottom is sandy. The tidal wave is high, so it’s better to rest with children in the other place.
There are no rental of parasols or sunbeds, but the beach is very popular. Among vacationers, the most are athletic youth.
The main activities of visitors of Montezuma:
- surfing,
- kayaking,
- snorkeling,
- parasailing.
On the beach there are instructors on duty, who teach those, who wish to learn the basics of surfing. The beach lies in an extremely picturesque place, among the jungle and cliffs, where the main sights of the resort are situated - waterfalls.
In the village of Montezuma, inexpensive hotels, apartments and hostels are equipped. Demanding tourists rent villas, bungalows. A network of restaurants with a diverse cuisine, bars, cafes is open on the coast. There is a supermarket, shops, a farmers market.
It is possible to get to Montezuma from Tambor by taxi or by rented car, where there is a small airport, serving domestic flights from Liberia and San Jose. Ferry runs between Montezuma and Hako. It is possible to rent a boat in Jaco, if having a little luggage.
When is it better to go
The peak season in Costa Rica begins in December and lasts until April. This period is characterized by clear, sunny weather without precipitation and a massive influx of tourists. Air temperature – above +30°C, water – not below +25°C. From June to October, the rainy season prevails, when the country is flooded with heavy tropical downpours with churly blasts. It is possible to go on a trip in November and May, when the rains are not torrential and fall rarely. At this time, the cost of tours is reduced.
