Beach description
Santa Teresa Beach is considered to be one of the most beautiful places of Costa Rica. Fine light beige sand with a golden tint evenly covers kilometer-long sections of the coast bordering the splendid rainforest.
The entrance to the water is smooth, the bottom is sandy and rocky, but it is impossible to go slowly to the depth because of the powerful surf. Santa Theresa is not the best place for swimming, but is perfect for surfing. High waves and sea breezes provide excellent conditions for windsurfing.
Beach is always half-empty. Lone travelers, windsurfers and nudists like spending time here. No sunbeds or umbrellas. There are cheap hostels, campings and parking lots along the coastline. If you come to Santa Theresa with children, a hotel with a pool is the most suitable place for you.
There are no cafes or restaurants on the beach, you can have something in Mal País cafes.
.The city of Santa Teresa has everything you need for a relaxing holiday - hotels, shops, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, banks. You can rent a boat or speedboat for a walk along the beach, go to the waterfalls of Montezuma, in the protected area, or fishing.
You can get to Santa Theresa by a transit flight with the connection in New York, Mexico or Lima. The closest international airport to Santa Theresa is located in Tambor.
When is it better to go
The peak season in Costa Rica begins in December and lasts until April. This period is characterized by clear, sunny weather without precipitation and a massive influx of tourists. Air temperature – above +30°C, water – not below +25°C. From June to October, the rainy season prevails, when the country is flooded with heavy tropical downpours with churly blasts. It is possible to go on a trip in November and May, when the rains are not torrential and fall rarely. At this time, the cost of tours is reduced.
