Vecaki beach

The beach has golden sand, pure sea and pine trees, growing along the coastline. The entry into the sea is smooth, the depth does not begin immediately. The water is quite calm. And in the autumn season, when it's windy, kiters gather here.

The infrastructure of Vecaki is developed not enough. There is, of coarse, all the necessary: changing cabins, volleyball and football area, playgrounds. It is possible to rent sunbeds and parasols. But there is only one cafe, and the prices are rather high. There is a small parking lot near the beach, and during high season there are not enough places. Along the beach there is a bicycle path, leading directly to the capital.

Of the local sights, tourists are attracted by the pier, which goes into the sea for 30 m. From it it is convenient to watch ships, sailing from the port. A Swedish ship, sunken in the 50s, whose concrete nose sticks out from under the water, is located between the beach and the lighthouse. There is also a nudist beach in Vecaki.

It is possible to get to the beach by train in 15 minutes from the capital station or by private car in half an hour.

When is it better to go

The climate of the Latvian coast belongs to the soft sea. There are few sunny days in a year, and the rest of the time the sky is overcast, often it rains. The Baltic Sea does not freeze even in winter. But in summer, the water temperature off the coast only occasionally rises to +22...+23˚С. All the rest of the time - not more than +18˚С.

The peak season on the beaches of Riga Seaside begins in late July, August. The air temperature at this time reaches a comfortable +25°C, sometimes it can increase to +35°C. Winds often blow from the sea. The weather in Latvia is unpredictable, so when planning a vacation in the resorts of Latvia it is better to specifically monitor the weather.
