Goryachinsk village beach
Perhaps this resort destination deserves to be ranked first along the Barguzin Tract from Ulan-Ude for its development of tourism and modern infrastructure. Nestled here is one of the oldest recreational resorts, Goryachinsk, which welcomed its first guests to the shores of Lake Baikal in the distant year of 1810. It earned its name from the therapeutic hot springs found within its bounds, accessible not only to the resort's residents but also to any and all visitors seeking their healing benefits.

Beach description
The first thing that catches the eye of vacationers is the pristine and expansive beach, reminiscent of a seaside paradise. The sand is a kaleidoscope of hues, ranging from cool white to warm ginger, and occasionally, a rich brown. The shore is flat and yielding, making it a delight to stroll barefoot. While rocks do dot the landscape both in the water and along the shore, the beach's generous expanse ensures that finding a comfortable spot for relaxation, free from stones, is a breeze. The lake's entry is gradual, inviting a leisurely wade to reach deeper waters.
For many, the beach's allure lies in its tranquility. With fewer vacationers, serenity prevails, particularly on weekdays. However, the weekends tell a different story. Throngs of young people from Ulan-Ude descend upon the beach, transforming it into a bustling hub of activity. Thus, if your visit to Baikal Lake is brief, it is advisable to schedule it on weekdays.
This shore of Baikal Lake follows a consistent pattern: evenings bring a restless lake, stirring up a sandy haze in the water, while mornings offer a stark contrast with still waters, resulting in exceptional clarity and cleanliness. Many visitors, opting not to rent rooms from locals, bring their own tents - a popular practice in this idyllic setting.
When is the best time to go?
The best time to visit Baikal for a beach vacation is during the summer months, specifically from late June to August. This period offers the most favorable conditions for enjoying the unique beaches along the world's deepest and oldest freshwater lake.
- Late June to Early July: The weather starts to warm up, making it comfortable for beach activities and swimming, although the water can still be quite refreshing.
- July: Considered the peak of the summer, July offers the warmest temperatures, both in the air and in the water. This is the ideal time for sunbathing and long days on the sandy shores.
- Early August: The pleasant weather continues, but it's advisable to go earlier in the month to avoid the cooler temperatures that start to set in towards the end of August.
It's important to note that while summer is the best season for a beach vacation at Baikal, the lake has a unique microclimate. Even during these months, the weather can be unpredictable, so visitors should be prepared for sudden changes. Additionally, the water of Lake Baikal is known for being quite cold, rarely exceeding 14°C (57°F), even at the height of summer.

Infrastructure
Previously, reaching the beach from guest houses required a 10-15 minute walk. However, the village has been developing and expanding. Consequently, numerous hotels have been constructed along the right bank of Baikal Lake over the past several years.
Regarding the food service system, the village boasts various shops and several cafes. Visitors should sample the local cuisine, particularly the Buryat specialty known as pozy. These dumplings are not only delicious and filling but also economical. Overall, the prices at food establishments are reasonable, often more so than in Moscow.
Beach activities include volleyball, dining at various cafes, and engaging in water sports. Kayaking, in particular, enjoys great popularity in the area. A weekend getaway is ideal for those arriving with a lively group and seeking entertainment. For a more tranquil experience, midweek visits are recommended, making it a perfect time for families with children to enjoy the serene environment.
