Saraisky Beach

The beauty of Baikal Lake is impossible to convey in words or colors. You must see it! Saraisky beach on the Olkhon Lake is one of the picturesque places in this nature are with incredible energy. By the way, the view of this beach is familiar even to people who have never been to Baikal, since it is, as it is said, "postcard". It is that very place of power, where the energy of the biggest lake in the world is felt fully.

Beach description

Every corner of nature is unique and beautiful in its own way, but if to talk about the Saray beach, then without exaggeration it is a place of amazing beauty with virgin landscapes and a peaceful atmosphere. As the coast appears in sight, the attention of tourists is attracted by a beautiful cliff that juts deep into the sea and sets off the rugged, steep coast.

The beach itself is sandy, but with an egress of rock. Therefore, at the bottom it is quite possible to stumble upon stones, be careful. Though the water is perfectly clear, therefore the bottom is well seen. It to be careful, it will not happen with you. The depth on the beach is small. At least in the first few meters even children can easy frolic. In addition, there is absence of waves, so parents can stay calm at all.

Nature favors vacationers in this area - there are only 48 cloudy days a year, that is, in summer there is practically no rain, wind, cloudy weather. It is difficult to imagine for residents of St. Petersburg or Moscow! In general, Baikal and Transbaikalia are spoiled by the sun - from here you can return with a tan better than from sea.

When is it better to go?

Baikal is beautiful at any time of the year, except perhaps the thaw time (from late October to early January), when earth-roads become almost impassable, it is not worth the trouble to come here. July and August are the best time for a beach recreation when  the water in some areas warms up to a comfortable 22 degrees (Olkhon,  Chivyrkuisky Bay, the Small Sea), and the air temperature reaches 26-27 degrees.

Infrastructure

There are not attractions, cafes, lounges. There is one dry toilet. Sometimes local entrepreneurs set tent trade off the coast, but you should not really count on it. You better bring food with you. The most important is to take as more fresh water as possible, since there is almost no shadow where to hide from the heating sun.

It is a wild beach – it is even forbidden to travel by car, as the local ground is prone to erosion, and the banks gradually began to “sink”. But there is a boat which enters the bay, where you can go on a walking tour. Passenger cruise ships from Irkutsk drop off passengers on the west coast (not far from the crossing through the Olkhonskiye Gates Strait), and then tourists are transported to Khuzhir by buses.

By the way, in Khuzhir itself (the nearest village to the beach) there is no embarkment: the village center is separated from the sea by a ridge of low hills, access to water is only on the outskirts - in the west at the Malomorsky fish factory. You can rent a room for a night or a few days in the very Khuzhir – near the beach there is not housing, and hotels as well.
