Listvyanka village Beach

Listvyanka is the main tourist center of western Baikal, it is even called Siberian Anapa. The village can boast of a developed infrastructure, a huge number of cultural and natural sights and a well-equipped beach stretching for several kilometers.

Beach description

Coastline is covered by fine pebble, somewhere by sand. The water in Baikal is cold and even in peak season it rarely warms above 18 degrees. Near the city beach there are piers, to which large and small vessels regularly moor. This does not affect the cleanliness of the water in the best way, and seaweed is often nailed to the shore.

Nevertheless, at the peak of the season (July-August), the beach is quite crowded, vacationers relax sunbathing, play beach volleyball or simply admire the beauties of the lake from the verandas of open cafes. It is worth to note that in Listvyanka there is no embankment, and tourists are forced to move along the roadway. Considering the intensity of traffic, this is not always safe, so you need to attentively look around and be extremely careful.

In winter, Baikal freezes, and the coastal zone turns into a huge ice rink. On the beach, there are tents with snacks and hot drinks installed, music plays, and everything looks very colorful.

When is the best time to go?

Baikal is beautiful at any time of the year, except perhaps the thaw time (from late October to early January), when earth-roads become almost impassable, it is not worth the trouble to come here. July and August are the best time for a beach recreation when  the water in some areas warms up to a comfortable 22 degrees (Olkhon,  Chivyrkuisky Bay, the Small Sea), and the air temperature reaches 26-27 degrees.
