Posolsky sor beach

Beach description
Water in summer season warms up to +20-22 and is quite comfortable for swimming. It is less transparent than on the open shores of the lake, and the bottom is, as a rule, with seaweed. Therefore, it is here where fishing lovers spend their time, as there "drossy" fish are fattening: roach, crucian, perch and pike.
It is the winiest and the warmest place on Baikal. Windsurfers come here to compete in their skills, and just lovers of wildlife as well, who want to enjoy pristine nature away from civilization and live in tents. One more advantage is that the water is shallow, so even beginners can stand on the deck – such an attempt is not dangerous.
In the bay there are two resort areas: Baikal Surf and Kultushnaya. It is necessary to note that the shore is quite convenient for vacation, and with children as well. It can be compared with the west coast of cold water and rocky bottom. Here, in contrary, beaches are distinguished by fine soft sand and warm shallow water.
When is better to go?
Baikal is beautiful at any time of the year, except perhaps the thaw time (from late October to early January), when earth-roads become almost impassable, it is not worth the trouble to come here. July and August are the best time for a beach recreation when the water in some areas warms up to a comfortable 22 degrees (Olkhon, Chivyrkuisky Bay, the Small Sea), and the air temperature reaches 26-27 degrees.

- Such a name has quite interesting origin. This Sor was named Posolsky in honor of the tragic death in the middle of the XVIIth century of the Russian embassy, which went to China. After what happened, a fortified monastery was erected here and a Russian settlement appeared.
- You can get here by personal car, and public transport as well. By train - from Ulan-Ude (about 3 hours) and Irkutsk (5-6 hours) to the Kultushnaya station or the Baikalsky Priboy stop. It’s also convenient to travel by car - the M55 Baikal highway runs along the Sor.
- You should try fish embassy omul. This is a local delicacy, as schools of this fish are found only near Posolsky Sor.
- There is Cherkalov Sor between Posolskoye and Istok villages 20 minutes ride from Posolsky Sor. It is distinguished by that the depth of the bay is not more than 1 meter, so it is very convenient for windsurfing. In summer Festival of sailing and board sports is held.
