Salamumu beach

Salamumu Beach is located in the south of the Upolu Island in Samoa. This beautiful, calm and deserted coast isn't really suitable for swimming as the sea bottom and the shore are covered in black sharp volcanic rocks in this part of the Pacific Ocean. People come here to partake in snorkeling and diving. When the high waves occur, and they aren't rare on Salamumu, experienced surfers practice their surfing skills.

Beach description

Salamumu is a very beautiful place. The tropical views of the tall shadowy palms and white sand with black lava rocks are enhanced with the crystal clear turquoise water. The best time to come here is from June till September. Samoan region has rain seasons that happen in the beginning of winter and last until March, and although it's not necessarily raining all the time in the period, the weather is predominantly cloudy and windy.

One of the main disadvantages of Salamumu is getting there, as the trip may get tiring because of the low quality road that leads here. It's recommended to rent a SUV or call local taxi to get here.

When is the best time to go?

The climate in Samoa is divided into 2 seasons. In the summer season, which lasts from November to April, hot and humid weather prevails on the island, in the winter (May to October) it is dry and warm. The average t ° of air in Samoa is + 26 °C, the water on the beaches is + 24 °C and higher, the average rainfall is 3,000 mm/year. Geographically, the island is located in the cyclone passage zone, therefore it is always windy, and in the summer season the hurricanes and storms are often here. The maximum amount of rain falls during the period from December to April. May-October is the most favorable time for a holiday in Samoa.
