Las Achiras beach

Las Achiras is located in Santa Teresa national park. The wide beach with soft white sand attracts a lot of tourists.

Beach description

Like a horseshoe, the beach is surrounded by capes from both sides. The water is shallow near the beach line, and further the depth increases. In autumn and winter, when the waves are the highest here, this place is perfect for surfing. While the waves are low, you can rent a boat on the beach and go fishing in the ocean.

In the surroundings, there are cozy chalets and guest houses. You can settle in a temp near the ocean, where a tourist camp is located. In the national park, more than 60 walking paths are organized. You can visit the rose garden where about 300 pieces of roses bloom. Also, from the viewpoint, you will be able to watch whales if their migration season matches your vacation.

You can get to Las Achiras only by tour bus or car. It takes 3.5 hours to get to the beach from the capital city.

When is it better to go

The best time to travel to South America – from December to May. There is little rainfall during these months, the air warms up by an average of +28˚С, and the water temperature – from +21˚ to +23˚. Most Atlantic waters warm up in February, but this is the peak season on the coast. At this time, tourists from neighboring Argentina, Uruguay itself and tourists from all over the world choose these places for recreation.
