Choroni beach

Choroni is a small town on the northern coast of Venezuela, approximately halfway between Valencia and Caracas, west of the country's capital. The city does not greatly differ from the other settlements in Latin America, it is a standard small resort with classical Creole architecture, which is diluted with frequent hotels and small restaurants with an unusually high concentration of pizzerias.

Beach description

the beach in the city is called Playa Grande (literally the Great Beach). It is located at a relative distance from Choroni about half a kilometer from the city to the east. The beach is trapped between the mountain, which is issued in the sea from the north and numerous more gentle hills from the eastern part (here is the reserve Henri-Pete). The beach is directly open and washed by the waters of the Caribbean Sea. Access to the beach is located on the north side by the mountain. In any other direction, there are also small paths that lead through the forest. It is best to walk along the main road, especially since in the city it starts from The Tourist center.

The main part of the beach is about one and a half kilometers long. It is relatively small- only about 40-50 meters and consists of light sand. In some places, green palms specially planted for the "kind of bounty" approach almost close to the coastline.

the sand on the beach is small, light yellow in color somewhat dirty shade. There are picturesque stones closer to the edges from the north and the east sides. However, walking along the water there becomes a bit uncomfortable.

The beach is regularly cleaned, but not as carefully as many tourists in five-star hotels are used to. You cannot see any ash bin there. And therefore it will be necessary to take all garbage with you as much as possible in order to throw in a container along the road in front of the city.

When is the best time to go?

Venezuela was lucky with its geographical location: hurricanes and tornadoes almost do not pass through the territory of this country, and thanks to the subequatorial climate, the temperature does not fall below 20 and does not rise above 27 degrees all year round. The best time to visit Venezuela is from November to May, during the dry season.

Infrastructure

There are no hotels on the beach itself. All of them are located in a narrow city, elongated along the road from south to north. However, if the distance from the beach is not very important, and you are looking for such ideals as beauty, silence and solitude, then you should pay attention toCacaoni Lodge. It is located in the northern part of the city. The beach will be only a kilometer further. This is a great place to relax, with an eye-catching design of rooms, whose restaurant meets high international standards.

Useful information

The path to Choroni passes along the mountain roads. Almost certainly it will be possible to travel only from Caracas to the west on the highway for about 60 kilometers, and then from the city of Maracay to the north on serpentines and mountain roads for about 35-40 kilometers. Therefore, you need to have patience and pills for motion sickness. Because on steep roads, even a strong and stable person can feel liverish. It is advisable to sleep at all, because for a European, the driving style and condition of the bus may not seem entirely credible.

You can get to Maracay by plane of local airlines.
