Gili Meno beach

Gili Meno Beach is a picturesque beach on the island of the same name and one of the best coasts on the coral islands of Gili Trawangan. It is located on the eastern outskirts of the island of Gili Meno, which is famous for the most developed infrastructure. This is a true paradise for those who love solitude in nature and want to comfortably enjoy a romantic atmosphere away from noisy crowds. Therefore, Gili Meno is famous as one of the best beaches near Lombok for lovers and honeymooners.

Beach description

Gili Meno beach impresses with its incredibly clear waters with azure tint and white sand on the coast interspersed with fine pebbles. Among its characteristic features, it is worth noting such nuances:

  • the sea is most calm here in the morning - there are almost no waves;
  • when resting in July-August, it is worth considering the constancy of the blowing southerly winds, contributing to the formation of significant waves;
  • although spectacular sunsets are still not the main “highlight” of this beach, the evenings are beautiful, and the color transformations of the sky in the reflections of the setting sun attract a lot of pleasure boats.

Diving and snorkeling are some of the most popular activities on this beach with impressive corals and numerous marine life. On the island of Gili Meno, you can find several dive centers where you can rent the necessary equipment and have the opportunity to study at the PADI courses, as well as organize various types of dives with experienced instructors, including night diving.

The most popular dive site is Simon Reef. Hiking and riding bicycles and local horse-drawn carts called “Sidomo” are also popular leisure activities on Gili Meno.

When is it better to go?

The air temperature throughout the year differs little and keeps within + 28-30 degrees. In the evening and at night, it is slightly cooler, but the thermometer rarely falls below +23 degrees. The water temperature is also stable. In order to avoid the rainy season (months from December to March), it is better to visit the country from May to August.

Infrastructure

Despite the atmosphere of isolation from the outside world, Gili Meno beach is particularly distinguished by its developed infrastructure. Vacationers can find the maximum available comfort here, including:

  • authentic beach bar and restaurant, representing a bamboo rotunda with bar stools and tables made of bamboo and a roof made of grass flooring;
  • wooden beach huts on the coast;
  • access to beach umbrellas and beach chairs.

The island also has plenty of different cafes, grill bars and restaurants. Many island cafes offer seafood barbecue daily in the evenings. Most catering establishments are concentrated in the same part of the island as the beach. 300 m north of the pier you can visit the traditional varung with budget food prices.

You can stay at Karma Reef, which is located just 300 meters from the beach and a few steps north of the paved path to the main pier on the coast. Another plus of the location in it is the proximity of the Gili Meno bird park, which is only 10 minutes away. A lower budget option is Gili Meno Eco Hostel, the only one hostel of the island.

Since there are cases when the ferry goes to one of the islands, and already from there you have to get by boat to Gili Meno.
