Sao beach
Sao Beach is often hailed as the most exquisite and renowned beach on the expansive island of Phú Quốc, and perhaps even in all of Vietnam, if not Asia. Globally, the beach garners high praise for its splendor. While it may be less extensive than Long Beach, it certainly does not fall short in terms of beauty. In fact, Sao Beach rivals Ong Lang Beach with its pristine natural surroundings, complemented by a more sophisticated infrastructure that caters to every visitor's needs.

Beach description
Externally, the beach area is a scene from a picturesque film - with its azure water surface, white sand near the coast, and luxurious palm trees lining the shoreline. However, the allure of the beach extends beyond its visual splendor. It is an absolutely safe and suitable destination for any vacationer, whether it be a married couple with young children or a boisterous group of friends. Yet, securing a free lounger during the high season can be quite challenging, as the number of tourists flocking to this idyllic spot increases each year.
Those seeking a tranquil and secluded retreat may find solace in the southern part of the beach, where the sand takes on a more golden hue and is not as fine as in the central area. The optimal time for swimming here is in the summer, when the winds abate and the sea becomes serene. Conversely, the winter months attract surfers to the beach, as the wind picks up and brings with it substantial waves. During this period (October to mid-May), the waves can be quite formidable, particularly as noon approaches.
The beach is situated on the southeastern coast of Phú Quốc Island, approximately 20-30 kilometers from the bustling city of Dương Đông. Visitors can access this haven by bus or rented transport - such as a car or motorbike - which are so favored by locals that a separate parking area is designated for them at the beach. Sao Beach captivates not only with its unspoiled nature and the easily accessible famous archipelago but also with its excellent opportunities for fishing and scuba diving near the nearby reefs.
For those staying with children, the beach offers a very comfortable environment. The water is pure and clear, the sea near the shore is shallow and warm, devoid of rocks and rocky patches, ensuring a safe swimming experience. It is an ideal place to teach children to swim. The expansive coastline invites the building of sandcastles, the search for mollusks or shells, kite flying, and engaging in active games on the sand.
When is the best time to visit?
The best time to visit Phú Quốc for a beach vacation is during the dry season, which spans from November to April. This period offers the most favorable weather conditions for enjoying the island's stunning beaches and outdoor activities.
- November to February: These months are considered the peak season due to the cool and dry weather, making it perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports. However, it's also the busiest time, so expect larger crowds and higher prices.
- March to April: The tail end of the dry season is characterized by warmer temperatures and less crowded beaches. This is an ideal time for those looking to enjoy a more tranquil beach experience while still taking advantage of the clear skies and calm seas.
- Late April to October: This is the rainy season, with higher humidity and frequent showers. While it's not the optimal time for a beach vacation, the island's lush landscapes are at their most vibrant, and there are fewer tourists, offering a more authentic experience at lower costs.

Accommodation near the beach is currently undergoing development. Some resorts along the shoreline have been restored, while others are just beginning to welcome guests. Budget-friendly options are typically situated farther from the beach, whereas the coveted first-line properties are home to luxurious guest houses and premium hotels. For example, the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa, a five-star establishment, is located just two kilometers from the beach. It provides its guests with not only opulent rooms but also spa services, swimming pools, a fitness center, a banquet hall, and even childcare services.
Along the beach, you'll find an array of cafes and restaurants offering seafood and other exquisite dishes. With a variety of cuisines available, you can savor both traditional Russian fare and authentic Vietnamese dishes. Vendors on the beach also offer light snacks and refreshing soft drinks served in coconuts, perfect for beachgoers.
