Vung Bau beach
Vung Bau Beach is one of the last wild beaches of Phu Quoc. It is located in the northwest of the island, washed by the waters of the Gulf of Thailand in the South China Sea. Vung Bau is a beautiful crescent-shaped beach. Water in this part of the island of an unusual sapphire color turns Vung Bau into a paradise.

Beach description
Sand of dark yellow colour with talcum texture covers the open roots of tall casuarina trees. The coastline is about 4.5 km of free and mostly deserted beach. The disadvantage of Vung Bau is an abandoned dirt road leading to it, but it has recently been planned to be repaired. Also, the lack of infrastructure leads to the fact, that many vacationers sometimes leave garbage after a picnic.
Vung Bau beach is ideal for swimming, the sea is calm in the summer, without waves, and noisy in the autumn and winter. The entry into the water is sloping, the bottom is clean, but sea urchins, shells and starfish can be found. In addition to swimming, the beach offers beautiful places with a small coral reef for snorkeling and diving, in the autumn-winter period it is necessary to be careful of undercurrents. Near the beach there is the island of turtles.
When is the best time to go?
Since Vietnam is a country stretching from north to south, the climate in its different parts is slightly different. In the north, high humidity and temperature are observed from May to October, but in the remaining months it is slightly drier and cooler. In the South, the rainy season is longer, lasting from may to November, but even after it ends, the humidity does not subside. Therefore, it is better to go to popular resorts in the south of the country in winter or early spring.
