Beach description
Vong Beach, nestled on the southeast coast of Phú Quốc Island, is conveniently situated near Duong Dong and the ferry terminal. Contrary to the misconception that the beach is an industrial zone, it offers easy access via a well-maintained asphalt road from any location on the island. Visitors can effortlessly reach the beach by bus, taxi, or by renting a bike to explore the picturesque coastline.
The beach is adorned with fine sand, and the shade of trees is a common sight. However, the water quality is a concern; it is often murky and may contain jellyfish and sea urchins. The surrounding area is rich in wildlife, with a forest behind the beach that is home to snakes and lizards, while the nearby mountains shelter macaques and bats. Although Vong Beach is relatively narrow and the ocean is shallow near the shore, making it suitable for swimming, families with children may prefer to visit cleaner beaches in Vietnam for a more enjoyable experience. The presence of ships, bustling docks, and industrial activities lends a unique charm to the beach, offering a glimpse into the vibrant life of the island rather than a traditional, tranquil retreat.
During the dry season, the midday heat can be intense, driving vacationers to seek refuge in the cooler mornings and late afternoons. Many choose to relax with a book on sunbeds or take a dip in the refreshing hotel pools to escape the scorching sun. Conversely, the rainy season brings its own challenges, with strong winds and towering waves transforming the beach into a dramatic spectacle.
Optimal Visiting Time
The best time to visit Phú Quốc for a beach vacation is during the dry season, which spans from November to April. This period offers the most favorable weather conditions for enjoying the island's stunning beaches and outdoor activities.
- November to February: These months are considered the peak season due to the cool and dry weather, making it perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports. However, it's also the busiest time, so expect larger crowds and higher prices.
- March to April: The tail end of the dry season is characterized by warmer temperatures and less crowded beaches. This is an ideal time for those looking to enjoy a more tranquil beach experience while still taking advantage of the clear skies and calm seas.
- Late April to October: This is the rainy season, with higher humidity and frequent showers. While it's not the optimal time for a beach vacation, the island's lush landscapes are at their most vibrant, and there are fewer tourists, offering a more authentic experience at lower costs.

Infrastructure
The beach serves as a vibrant hub for every tourist on the island, often regarded as a bustling "transit point" complete with a pier and a variety of restaurants. While the immediate vicinity of the beach lacks accommodation services, the culinary offerings more than compensate. Patrons can indulge in an array of traditional Vietnamese dishes or savor European-style seafood, all known for their excellent quality. Additionally, the pier is a hotspot for purchasing light snacks and refreshing drinks.
For those embarking on their journey from this beach, Bamboo Cottages & Restaurant is an ideal place to stay. It's not just the comfortable rooms and exceptional service that make it stand out, but also the delicious, nutritious food and the opportunities it offers for family relaxation. The hotel arranges boat excursions and kayaking adventures, during which guests can enjoy snorkeling or fishing. As the day wanes, you can listen to the soothing sounds of the sea and admire the stunning sunset, perhaps even grilling your fresh catch for dinner.

With many shortcomings of the beach, it cannot be said that there is nothing to do here. This is a great place to meet the dawn and the wires of the sunset, because the sky in this area takes on an indescribable color: from pink to shades of purple. In addition, this is a favorite place for fishing, you only need a fishing rod, hook and bait. And after visiting and hanging out at the piers, you can go to the anchovy processing plant or visit the nearby National Park. There is also the opportunity to visit the small authentic village of Ham Ninh, where fishing is considered the main occupation of every resident, and at night there are small squid tours organized here.
The southern part of the beach is wider, it's nice to have a picnic before a long trip around the island, go rowing, but for snorkeling the water is dirty. Although the beach is classified as wild, it’s still possible to find convenient and comfortable stretches of sand to spend several hours of relaxation here.
