Playa Chikitu beach

Playa Chikitu Beach decorates the eastern shore of Bonaire. The sparkling water surrounded by two flat rocky plateaus is truly breathtaking. Its white sand washed by the blue waters adds to the idyllic picture. The picturesque Playa Chikitu is part of a national park.

Beach description

The beach geographical position is teh reason of complicated access to it and frequent east winds taht create waves. It is prohibited to swim on Playa Chicitu due to dangerous flows and artful currents. Even if waters seem to be still, it is strictly prohibited to enter the water.

Playa Chikitu is also characterized by the fact that it is the only one place on Bonaire Island with natural sand dunes where sea turtles make nests regularly. You can take a beach walk along high dunes or go looking for ancient fossil residues. You can hold a picnic on the beach, or just enjoy tunes and rhythms of sea tide.

When is it better to go

A comfortable temperature f water (+24 °C) and air (+26 ... + 32 °C) is kept on Bonaire all year. The rainy season is from November to February, so it’s better to go to other months to relax on the beaches of the island.
